Pakistan : This year on March 2, Baloch Culture Day was celebrated in Balochistan and wherever the Baloch live, including Iran, Afghanistan, Dubai, Oman and Bahrain. Balochis celebrated the day to show their cultural vibrance. The day is marked by wearing traditional dresses, serving Balochi cuisines and reading Baloch literature in events organised for the day. Balochis are a brave people who have made important contributions to the development of the countries, including Pakistan, where they live.
Culturally, Balochis have a tradition of beautiful folk musical dances and songs which are performed in marriage ceremonies like Lewa, Nazenk which attract big audiences. The commonly used instrument is flute, locally called Tambora and Soroz. The most famous folk dance is known as Dochaapi where the participants move in a circle clapping their hands on certain occasions, including dance steps in unique patterns.
We hope that the Balochi culture and language would remain forever with their everlasting and unique way of expression. However, the indifference of the Balochistan culture ministry towards the promotion of our culture is disappointing.
